How is a Live Sandy Beach Towel different from my regular beach towel?
The most obvious answer is your typical beach towel is made of cotton, while the Live Sandy Beach Towel is made of a woven blend of microfiber. But what does that MEAN? That means your Live Sandy towel will look and feel a little different - it's not a thick, plush towel. Instead it's a compact, soft towel that will take up such little space in your beach bag, backpack, or suitcase, you'll be amazed! I'm telling you...it is a game-changer when it comes to packing a beach bag for our family of five! And then there's how well it functions... It absorbs so much water leaving you dry in one swipe. And then it dries...SO FAST. And sand will brush right off that tight microfiber weave. That's right...SAND FREE! Did we mention it has antimicrobial properties as well as odor-control? A Live Sandy towel is durable as well and will not fade or tatter after being used and abused. It is truly the Next Generation Towel!
What is microfiber?
Technically, microfiber is a synthetic fiber with a diameter less than a single strand of silk (1 denier...that's less than 1/20th the diameter of a human hair for those of you sleeping during science class). Microfiber is used in a wide variety of things… cleaning, disinfecting, upholstery, car detailing, apparel, etc. There are multiple weaves and pile lengths of microfiber, all designed with different properties for different purposes. Live Sandy towels use a blend of polyester and polyamide (nylon) that is tightly woven in what's called a suede weave. The specific blend, weave, and pile length in the Live Sandy Beach Towel is selected to be soft, ultra-absorbent, durable, and quick to dry. Microfiber towels are reported to be all the rage in places such as Europe and Australia...it's time for the U.S. to jump on the bandwagon! Your Live Sandy towel will gain lots of attention poolside, so be ready to answer questions about it!
Are Live Sandy towels soft?
Yes, these towels are soft! Our towels have the soft feel of a premium suede. It is different, however, from the plush thickness of a conventional towel. To be honest about my first experience with a microfiber towel, I felt like I was drying off with a soft flag. It may take a little getting used to, but once you experience the benefits that come with using a Live Sandy microfiber towel, you'll reach for it every time!
How is the Live Sandy towel more absorbent and quicker to dry than my beach towel?
These are some of the reasons we looked towards microfiber and its amazing physical properties as we designed the next generation towel. It is all about the shape and size of the individual threads of fabric. The microfiber in the Live Sandy towels are shaped like an snowflake or asterisk with many crevasses and cracks. Cotton on the other hand is more like you think of thread…circular or cylindrical. The microscopic strands of the microfiber are so small, you can’t feel them, however they quickly grab water and wick it away from your skin and into the microfiber. Once you hop back in the water and leave your towel in the sun, the large surface area of all of the strands of microfiber helps the water evaporate easily, which is why the Live Sandy dries super fast.
How durable are Live Sandy microfiber towels?
We have been particularly amazed at how durable our Live Sandy towels are! We still use the prototype towel to this day after years of being left in sun and washing machine abuse. We personally can’t tell that the colors have faded any and the material of the towel still appears new.
Cotton is a natural fiber that starts to break down after multiple uses and washes and becomes tattered and faded. The tight weave of the microfiber makes the Live Sandy Towel exceptionally durable, providing you many seasons of fun in the sun.
How do I care for my Live Sandy towel?
Live Sandy towels are easy to care for...I mean, who has time for an extra load of specialty laundry?
Wash them with like colors on cold.
No bleaching, No ironing, No dry cleaning.
We recommend not tumble drying the towels. The aspects that make our towels great could end up picking up lint off cotton fabric and lessen its absorption and increase its drying times. That being said, our family's towels have seen the inside of the dryer on occasion and don't appear any worse for the wear.
How fast will my order ship?
All in-stock orders of towels, Slizzies, and bands will ship within 24 hours excluding weekends and holidays. Pre-order towels will ship as soon as they arrive at the shipping warehouse from manufacturing...these items are noted as Pre-orders. The apparel will ship within 4-5 days. Please order in confidence that you will receive your product in a timely manner.
